VU7LD PRESS RELEASE – 7

The first batch of operators with a couple of XYL’s are assembling at Kochi today and will sail on the MV Bharat Seema from Kochi docks on 29th November afternoon, reaching Kavaratti Island in Lakshadweep early morning of the 30th November 2006.
They will all be meeting for a planning meeting at 1800 hrs this evening when all the details will be worked out.
All heavy material, antennae, linear amps etc have already been sent by sea and will be waiting for the group’s arrival so that no time is lost in getting the stations QRV quickly.
The first batch of operators consists of:
VU2SWS, VU3KKZ, VU3SGS, VU2PJP, VU3ENB, VU2VKU, VU2PAI, VU2RCR, VU2RDQ, VU2DMP, VU2IZO, VU2NKS, VU2NXM, VU2MTT, VU2GGM

We will nearly always work split frequency and will regularly announce the frequencies on which we are listening. We will only make contacts on our transmitting frequency during the last few days of the DXpedition if the pile-ups have disappeared.
Every half hour – on the hour and half hour – a call will be made for QRP stations.
